Anticipating the 400 anniversary of Sebastián de Vivanco in 2022, Officium Ensemble performs unknown works by the Ávila composer, interweaved by masterpieces of Portuguese polyphony. Born in the same region and time as Victoria, Vivanco was out-shadowed by his colleague's success, and his music was not known until very recently. This concert brings several modern day premieres. 

Ockeghem's Requiem is probably the earliest surviving polyphonic setting of any requiem mass. Officium Ensemble will join the music by Ockeghem with a world premiere by the Portuguese composer Nuno Côrte-Real.

Officium Ensemble invites you to join them on a ‘tour of Europe’ through wintry landscapes. From music for Advent and Christmas by top composers from all corners of the globe - from Palestrina to Sweelinck and from Guerrero to Byrd - the singers have compiled a mass tailor-made for early music fanatics. And something else guaranteed to turn up: Portuguese polyphony, this time by Duarte Lobo and Estêvão Lopes-Morago.
